We turn to linen when temperatures rise because it’s been the go-to fabric in hot climates-from Ancient Egypt to Austin, Texas-for centuries. And for good reason: it wicks moisture and breathes better than silk, rayon, cotton, and especially polyester. So much so that we liken it to on-body air-conditioning. But it’s long-lasting, too.Even though linen is soft to the touch (and gets even softer with wear), it is incredibly tough because the natural fibers are long and thick.
